The Gaylord Restaurant name was first established in the 1950`s by two well-known entrepreneurs in Mumbai and Delhi, Mr. Gai and Mr. Lamba, with the idea to establish fine quality Mughlai food suitable for the worldly travelers visited India. As their restaurant became more popular, Mr. Gai and Mr. Lamba established Gaylord Restaurants all over the world, including the Chicago restaurant in 1972.
With their thought and vision we established our location in 1997, serving sophisticated, yet traditional North Indian cuisine. We pride ourselves in providing the best service; fresh, good quality food and a comfortable atmosphere to make your visit a memorable experience.
Tandoor
The main specialty of North food is tandoori food. Tandoor, which means grilled food, marinated and roasted in clay oven. When as the charcoal heat has a very unique distinctive taste which adds to the tandoori food.
It creates a feel and look of 18th century Raj like setting and yet modern.
We carry premium selection of wines, beer, hard liquor and a large selection of Indian beers, such as Karma, Kingfisher, Taj, and wine, such as Sula.
Gaylord`s richly flavored, traditionally fragrant Indian cuisine has been a suburban favorite for eight years. Chef Amitesh Kumar Singh creates wonderful, inexpensive food that appeals to Indians and non-Indians as well with an extensive menu that includes meat dishes from the north as well as vegetarian dishes from the south. Highlights include the sparkling kachumber salad dressed with spiced lemon juice; samosas, deep-fried flour turnovers filled with spiced minced lamb or potatoes and peas; the Badshah, a sampler entree including two lamb entrees, chicken, fish, vegetarian dishes and warm bread; and the Begum, featuring flavorful tandoori chicken, minced lamb kabob spiced with tumeric, cumin, cinnamon and red chile; tender, slow-cooked seasoned lamb and more.
