Eberhart Accounting Services
Carol Eberhart and her daughter, Karen Miller, are both enrolled agents, tax professionals with demonstrated competence in taxation matters. They are licensed by the Federal Government and received certification after passing a grueling 2 day exam which tests knowledge relating to taxes and preparing tax returns. All Enrolled Agents are bound by the rigorous Standards of Ethical conduct of the US Treasury Department and are required to keep up to date on all tax law changes by participating in many hours of continuing education each year.
In addition to preparing income tax returns, Enrolled Agents are representatives for the people and are authorized to appear in your place at the Internal Revenue Service - a privilege earned only by EA`s, Attorneys, and CPA`s. Because of their knowledge of the way the IRS system works, Carol & Karen can usually find answers for you. Eberhart Accounting can be an insulating layer between the taxpayer and the IRS.
Divorced Parents
Your entitlement or dependency exemptions for your children does not depend on the relative contributions you and your former spouse make to the child`s support. Instead, the general rule is that the parent who has custody of the child is entitled to a deduction unless he or she relinquishes it to the other parent. Your year-end tax planning should include a consideration of which parent would most benefit from the dependency exemption and the effect this may have on the amount of child support to be paid.
Auto Deduction - Fraud?
"Donate your car instead of selling it! Save money on taxes! Get a large donation for a car that has to be towed away!" Sounds too good to be true? It may be a legitimate deduction, but then again, it may be fraud. Some charities are under investigation by the IRS for incorrectly valuing cars given to them for donations. Make sure that your value is realistic and that you have good support for your donation.
