Absolute Vision Care
Children A child may have rapid vision changes due to growth spurts. Parents and teachers may not recognize exactly what a child sees. Many school vision screenings may be inaccurate and miss functional vision skill difficulties. A child has no means to know what correct eyesight is and may learn to compensate for his/ her difficulties causing detrimental long-term vision problems. Adults To check for glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. Changes in vision without a prescription change may lead to eye fatigue, headaches, poor night vision, or computer eyestrain. During the ages of 40-55 years your eyes will experience more prescription changes than ever before (especially your near vision). Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness in the U.S. Family history of eye disease; early detection and prevention is the key for a lifetime of good health. Physical illness may lead to a decrease or permanent loss of vision. Contact Lens Wearers Contact lenses are medical devices that can cause subtle changes that may impact your ability to wear contacts years from now. To monitor any changes in vision that require adjustment in lens fit, power, and/or material. Contact lenses may affect the normal physiology of the cornea . It is our policy not to dispense contact lenses after a year from exam date. Vision Therapy The demand placed upon your child`s eyes has significantly increased over the years. Many preschool and kindergarten classes are spending 1-2 days a week in a computer session. Children can experience a great deal of "hidden" strain on their eyes. Although schools have a basic understanding of vision, the screening performed at school cannot take the place of a complete eye exam. AVC`s doctors specialize in state-of-the-art techniques for early detection of focusing problems that may be missed on a school screening. A child may see "20/20," however their eyes may not focus together. Unfortunately, we have seen many children labeled as ADD or Learning Disabled, but have not had their eyes properly evaluated.
